Did I really say "normalcy"? What is that anyway?
Dictionary.com says that normalcy is "being within certain limits that define the range of normal functioning." Okay, I accept that. Normal functioning for me IS my short attention span, my affinity for size US 7 knitting needles, my insane love for my car and my golf clubs, and most importantly my SNB. That's right, Chicks, I'm talking about you.
After nearly 2 weeks without hanging with my peeps (lol, I can picture Summer rolling her eyes) I made it to Beverly's last night. Boy did it feel good. Of course, the girls made it seem like the return of the prodigal son (me), but whatever, I was knitting! And of course, I had to sit next to the world's most prolific knitter, Jane and pet her sweater. All is right again.
Except I can't seem to convince Cupcake (also known as C.C.) and Cookie of that - - they're not sure what to make of Trudy. True she does walk around on all fours like they, but is she really worthy? Does she have the juice to rule the roost? In case you didn't know, C.C. and Cookie are my cats. The cutest and in Cookie's case, most mischievous cats in the county.
Oh, but back to Jane. She's a fast knitter and she wears her knits. She has made some awesome sweaters, tops, you name it, she's knit it. I knit a sweater too - - the Sweater from Hell, as the Chicks have all heard me call it. It's not really from Hell, it's beautiful. Summer wore it twice and now it hangs (the horror) in her closet. I don't know why she can't wear it, it's green! Actually it's the Central Park Hoodie from Interweave, and baby, it's beautiful and fits her like a glove. I didn't think I was one to rest on my laurels, but apparently I am. I haven't finished a project since. Wait, back up, I've knit scarves, but that's it.
I have an excuse - - my life has taken a drastic turn. Yeah, I didn't want to mention it again, but divorce has taken a toll. Not to mention my new obsession - - golf! Yeah, I'm still waiting to go and swing that new club Amber got me for Christmas. I don't care what the weather is like, I'm thinking there's no better way to spend a Sunday now that my Bears are out of Super Bowl contention.

It's 2009!
You're probably thinking "Yeah, thank you Captain Obvious!" But it just hit me, I mean, really hit me. It's 2009! I never thought I'd live to see it - not that I'm old or sick or anything. I just figured that our sun would go supernova on us or something. Whoa, that comes from being forced to watch my sister's favorite Sci-fi shows because she totally monopolized the tv and remote control when we were growing up. She STILL does it, btw. Yeah Sissy, I'm talking about you.
Mmm hmm it's 2009 and I'm pretty upset that we don't have flying cars like the Jetson's. (Even though I do my best to make my little blue Civic fly.) And speaking of that - - it's January and I'm really hoping to break my Speeding Ticket Curse. You see, Leadfoot Lisa has gotten a speeding ticket every January for like the last 3 or 4 years. This year I hope to break the curse. Somebody knock wood for me, please.
I'd like to talk about resolutions, but I didn't make any. Do you find that as odd as I do? Why didn't I? Do not think for a minute that I think I'm perfect and don't need to improve myself, cuz believe me, I know my shortcomings. I could resolve to lose weight and get in shape, but I've been working out and eating reasonably well since June when Summer left for Boot Camp. I've lost 35 pounds and still could lose more. And like I said in my profile, Body Rx changed my life.
I could resolve to quit drinking alcohol altogether, but that is just insane. I would break it.
So here I sit complaining about the world not having flying cars instead of finding ways to break my New Year's resolutions. Hey, maybe I'll finish a knitting project or two...

Looks like I made it...
No, no, I'm not talking about something I knit. (I have been doing very little of that lately which is probably why I've been so cranky.) I'm talking about moving - - which didn't go so smoothly. We've only got 1/2 the floor in the bathroom and we really didn't start moving until the 23rd. (Did I mention stress?) And did I also mention that I hadn't done any Christmas shopping either?? Yeah, now you get the picture!
I also want to mention what a pain in the a$$ it is to move without boxes. What? YEAH! we moved without boxes. I know, that's like swinging on a trapeze without a net. We had clothes EVERYWHERE. Who knows where my latest knitting project is or any yarn for that matter.
The best part of this whole scenario is that it is over. Well for the most part anyway. I still have to get clothes put away and call about the other half of the flooring, but that's a piece of cake. Hmm, what's that bag tucked into that corner over there? Right on! It's a knitting bag! Gonna cut this short and maybe knit a few rows....

MOVING DAY!
At least I hope it's moving day.
Tired, feeling funky too. Drank too much at Big Brudda's house. Hey, it's Christmas, I had to get in the spirit, didn't I? Yeah, well, maybe next time Sean won't have to pour me into the car to bring me home.
I should be packing. Instead I'm writing a post for a blog nobody reads. LMAO. Well it's here. And it's proof that I'm here.
Ay yay yay - - back to thinking about packing. Not that I have a lot of stuff to pack. I still have a lot of stuff at Tom's. Guess I'll get it when the judge says I can. For now, I barely have a pot to piss in. That is when the flooring guys install it after they put in the bathroom floor. I sure hope they finish today - - I don't want to have to keep going to the Valero gas station to pee...

It's Beginning to Look Alot Like Christmas
Did somebody say STRESS?
Uh, yeah. Got it in spades.
Christmas.
Moving.
But moving during Christmas? That is the ultimate. What's gone wrong? Everything.
Have I done any Christmas shopping? No. Am I serious? Yes. We don't even have a tree up yet. Wow! Procrastinator, thy name is Lisa. I am going to be one of those last minute shoppers out there on Christmas Eve. Maybe this way I'll find some great bargains. Either that, or I'll quit trying to find each kid the "perfect" gift and just get them gift certificates. That will work for my kids, but Sean's are young and young kids like unwrapping presents.
Wow, just thinking about all this makes me tired.
Somebody wake me when all this is over..

Don't you just love Sundays?
Ahhhh, Sunday.
Sleeping in. Pancakes. A long shower without worrying about the time.
Lionel Ritchie wrote it in a song when he was with the Commodores - - Easy like a Sunday morning. Yeah, go figure, I'm feelin' a lot like Lionel this morning. "I wanna be high, so high; I wanna be free to know the things I do are right. I wanna be free, Just me, babe! that's why I'm easy...." Yeah, thank your lucky stars that you're only reading this and not listening to it. What's that Trudy? Yeah, yeah, mama will stop singing now.

Not ALL dogs look good in sweaters
After checking out the internet for sweater patterns for dogs and my sisters VAST library and not getting anywhere, I guess I have to face it - - Trudy is a plus-size dog. I don't think I could knit a sweater that would be very flattering. And that's okay because she doesn't really go outdoors much anyway. Trudy's idea of roughing it is when we wash the cover to her dog bed and she has to lay on the bare floor.
Isn't it ironic that two people who are actively involved in just about everything have a dog that is more a part of the furniture than a pet? Maybe it's a better fit than we thought. She waits patiently for us and is not demanding of our already scarce time. All she asks of us is a warm bed (most of the time it's our bed she's layin' in which drives me nuts) and food. And what does she give back? Unconditional love.
And it's because of this love from a plus-size dog that I'm going back to surf the net for the perfect sweater pattern for my precious Trudy.
